AFAWA - Women Entrepreneurship Enablers Program

The rate of entrepreneurship on the African continent is the highest in the world, and it is primarily driven by female entrepreneurs. Women in Africa are twice as likely to establish a business as women anywhere else in the globe, but so yet, they haven't made much of an impact on economic progress.

To strengthen the ability of women-owned SMEs to access financing and grow their enterprises, AFAWA collaborates with women entrepreneurship enablers to achieve its goals.

Women business enablers, such as women's business groups, incubators, accelerators, official women cooperatives, qualified civil society organizations, etc., play a crucial role in fostering the growth of women-owned businesses. By offering advisory and training services to women's enterprises on various business management skills, they are essential to developing a viable environment in which women entrepreneurs can grow and create businesses that create jobs for the continent, enabling them to not only transition from the informal to the formal sector but also to become commercially viable and, most importantly, to access finance.

The Bank is seeking to fund initiatives as part of the Women Entrepreneurship Enablers program that will increase the profitability and sustainability of formal women-owned SMEs and give them access to financing options for business expansion.

The Bank welcomes ideas that are in line with the below-mentioned goals and themes from women's business associations, incubators, accelerators, formal cooperatives for women, and other eligible civil society organizations.
