Mastercard Opens Applications to Small Businesses for Start Path Program

Mastercard recently unveiled a new program under its acclaimed global start-up engagement program, Start Path, as part of an expansion of its commitment to small and medium-sized businesses.

Start Path was created exclusively for businesses assisting small and medium-sized businesses with their digital needs (SMEs). The chosen start-ups must have shown that they take a similar approach to Mastercard in supporting entrepreneurs worldwide, aiding these small business owners to grow and prosper.

The Shared Vision of Empowerment at Mastercard

Mastercard is specifically searching for start-ups that provide other business owners with innovative tools, data insights, and digital payment solutions so they can operate their companies more securely and productively.

Through the Start Path program, Mastercard has worked with over 350 start-ups from over 40 countries since 2014. Many of these companies have since gone public and achieved unicorn status.

The Start Path Small Business initiative encourages start-ups that are developing cutting-edge accounting software, e-commerce solutions, lending platforms, payment technology, digital banking, and other digital services for SMEs. Startups will have the chance to use Mastercard's network and SME knowledge over the four-month program to find product alliances, scale their businesses, and power solutions that promote safe, secure, and easy experiences.

“Each company will receive bespoke access to Mastercard’s customers and partners along with curated programming and a dedicated mentor who will help them identify and uncover collaboration opportunities. They will also have opportunities for technology collaboration and forums to pitch their solutions to prospects.”
